Is Fall on the Way???

Whew- we have had a little break in the heat for the last few days (although today is pretty muggy). Even though autumn's official start is nearly a month away, some of the trees are already starting to turn colors. Someone told me the smaller trees tend to do that early when it's been too dry throughout the summer- they just give it up! I don't know, though... comparing these two small trees across the street, one is all decked out in fall foliage and the other is still quite green (although that family regularly waters their yard. Hmmm.)

Here's how the boys have been beating the heat, now that the base pools are closed:

Sunday afternoon we finally got quite a rainstorm, so we let the boys go stomp in the puddles. This is the only picture we got- it was too wet to bring the camera outside any further!

Ryan's finishing up his last week of summer session classes this week- finals are next week. It's supposed to get hot and dry again this weekend, but maybe this will be summer's last hurrah?

As you can probably tell, I am ready for some cooler weather and fall! (Yes, I know I will eat my words in about four or five months).
