My current blog title is a line from the song Redeemer by Nicole C. Mullen- most of you have probably heard it, but if not you should definitely seek it out this weekend. What a statement: I KNOW my redeemer LIVES! That is my testimony; that is what drives how I live my life. I serve a risen, living Savior.
Last weekend, Ryan and I went out on a double-date with some friends of ours. After dinner we wnet to see the movie 10,000 BC. We must have been a little desperate for some entertainment in a small town, because this movie was given 1.5 stars by People magazine and totally panned by World magazine. I think, though, that this movie actually had some merit. Read on:
D'Leh, a chosen son among his fellow cavemen, sees his true love and bride-to-be kidnapped and carried of by a roving tribe of thugs (think Ghengis Khan). She and many others from the tribe are captured and forced into a miserable existence of slavery with no chance for escape. D'Leh leaves his home and crosses hundreds, if not thousands of miles to rescue his bride and set all the slaves free. In the end, D'Leh and his bride are reunited and good triumphs over evil.
Plot sound familiar? Think about the Easter story. All of humanity was held captive by sin with no way to escape it except through being rescued by Christ, God's only Son. He left heaven, his home, and spent 33 years reaching out to people and provided the only hope for salvation.
Have a blessed Easter!
